Salauddin, a former neighborhood commissioner and neighbor of Sahil, said: “Sahil studied up to intermediate level and worked in a traveling shop. Her father is a motorist and the family is in shock. He was shot in the stomach. Her last rites were performed at 3 p.m. today. We asked for compensation from the government. We asked on whose orders the police opened fire.

The second person to die was 15-year-old Mudassir Alam, who was awaiting his Class X results. His uncle Mohammad Sahid Ayyubi said: “The government has let us down. What was the reason for shooting and was it the only option with the police? The government must respond and the culprits must be condemned.

“We don’t even know how he became a member of the mafia. He was shot in the head. His father works as a laborer and he was the only child of his parents. We asked for compensation,” he said.
